Liverpool fans aren’t impressed with referee appointment for Man City clash

Some Liverpool supporters are not happy about Craig Pawson refereeing the Reds’ upcoming clash with Manchester City.

The champions face Pep Guardiola’s side in the Premier League on Sunday evening, with the Etihad Stadium meeting arguably the biggest of the season to date.

Liverpool have a five-point lead over their main title rivals, having played one game more, so the result in Manchester could end being crucial come next May.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will be confident of getting a result, having thrashed Atalanta 5-0 on their own turf in the Champions League on Tuesday.

It has been confirmed that Pawson will take charge of the high-profile occasion, meaning he will be under the spotlight throughout what could be a fierce 90 minutes of action. Meanwhile, Paul Tierney is on the all-important VAR duties.

Liverpool have felt hard done by this season when it comes to refereeing decisions, with the Everton debacle standing out, but calls also not going their way in games against the likes of Aston Villa, Sheffield United and West Ham.

These Reds supporters took to Twitter to give their thoughts on Pawson and Tierney’s respective appointments, with negativity generally the order of the day.
