Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz was the star of the show for Germany as they secured their first competitive win under Jurgen Klopp after a 2-0 success vs Serbia.
After setting up Tom Bischof’s opener, Wirtz added a fantastic goal in the second half to cap off what was a fine display for his country.
He was even handed the armband towards the end of the game as Klopp greeted him with a trademark hug at the full-time whistle.
And after the game, the former Liverpool boss singled out the 22-year-old for special praise.
Jurgen Klopp sends Florian Wirtz message to Liverpool
“It’s not about Liverpool playing the wrong way and therefore Flo not being able to make it work there or anything like that. Everything is absolutely fine.
“I don’t really know how much Flo has to get right before everyone is finally happy!
“But I think everyone in Liverpool will be very, very happy with his performance today.
“I don’t think so many English Liverpool fans have ever watched a Germany international before! They’ll have really enjoyed it. They saw a young lad who was full of joy out there and who worked incredibly hard.
“He played a brilliant game, just like everyone else, and of course that helps everyone.”
Always one of us, Kloppo!
