However, reports from France suggest the deal could depend on Cody Gakpo, who has been linked with a summer departure.
Barcola pursuit linked with Gakpo future
Gakpo has a contract at Liverpool until the summer of 2030, which is worth noting as the Reds won’t part with him unless it’s for a massive fee.
He featured regularly under Arne Slot and fared quite well on the left flank over the course of his compatriot’s two seasons at the helm at Anfield.

Gakpo has been linked with a move to Tottenham, who are on a bit of a mad one in the transfer market this summer under Roberto De Zerbi.
The Lilywhites are focusing on Eli Junior Kroupi and Savinho at the minute, but the Dutchman is someone they have admired throughout the ongoing transfer window.
The report also mentions the emergence of Rio Ngumoha, who made massive strides last season and is set to contest for a starting spot on the flanks.
Barcola can play on both flanks, as is the case with Ngumoha. As for Gakpo, his best football at Liverpool has been on the left flank, but he will also get a bit of game time centrally when Alexander Isak needs a breather.
Liverpool don’t have a stacked squad, so this isn’t really an issue to worry about now.
