Lovren gives Milan the go-ahead for summer switch

Dejan Lovren is ready to leave Liverpool and join AC Milan this summer, according to claims from Sempre Milan

The Croatian central defender fell out of favour towards the end of last season under Jurgen Klopp despite his injury woes.

Lovren found himself operating as a backup option to Joel Matip, who stepped into the void left by Joe Gomez’s long-term injury impressively and accompanied Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the back-line.

Speculation has gathered in recent times surrounding a possible switch to Italy for the Reds defender, who arrived in the summer of 2014 for a fee of £20 million from Southampton.

It had been initially suggested that Liverpool were holding out for a deal worth £25 million for Lovren if they are to offload him ahead of next season, but Sempre Milan’s report states that a €20 million offer would be accepted.

The centre-back failed to convince last term, making only 18 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.
