- Salah went off injured against Crystal Palace
- Fears that he has played his last match for Liverpool
- Set to leave Anfield this summer
Mohamed Salah might have played his last match for Liverpool after going off injured on Saturday in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield. The winger went off just before the hour mark and was replaced by Jeremie Frimpong.
The Egyptian has announced he will leave the club this summer, bringing his nine-year stay to an end. The decision comes just months after his fallout with Arne Slot, when he publicly hit out at the head coach for not playing him regularly after the 3-3 draw to Leeds United in December 2025.
The fans and played paid tribute to the legendary winger soon after his announcement, but things took an unexpected turn yesterday. The former Chelsea man went off injured, and fans have been concerned about his return to the pitch.
Egypt official give worrying Mohamed Salah update
Egypt’s national team director, Ibrahim Hassan, has hinted that Liverpool fans will not see Salah playing for the club again. He reported that the winger has suffered a muscle tear and will be out for a month.
“Mohamed Salah’s injury is a muscle tear, and he will be out of action for 4 weeks. The technical staff of the Egyptian national team will monitor the developments in his condition, and God willing, he will be present at the World Cup as normal.”
The 33-year-old sitting out for a month would miss the remaining four matches of the season. The Reds take on Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford – all sides who are right around in the Premier League table and are fighting for a place in the top 5.
Arne Slot unsure about Mohamed Salah
Arne Slot refused to give a direct answer about Salah’s injury, saying that they needed to wait for the medical report. He hoped that the winger would be fit for the remaining matches, but hinted that they would need to prepare for the Manchester United clash without him.
“We don’t know, that’s the best answer I can give because if I say it might be a chance then probably all the headlines are, ‘there might be a chance…’ We simply don’t know but what we do know is the season is in four weeks over, so there are not a lot of games being played. We have to wait and see how his injury is and if he is able to return to play.”
“What I do know about Mo is throughout all of these years he has taken such good care of his body that he will have the minimum time required to recover from an injury. Let’s hope for the best and that he is available in the last part [of the season].”
Mohamed Salah last scored in the Merseyside derby to help Liverpool win 2-1 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last week.
