Liverpool maintained their perfect record in Europe under Andoni Iraola with a 4-3 UEFA Champions League win against Villarreal.
The Reds came from behind to produce a fantastic display in the second half and are now in a fantastic position to finish in the top eight and make it through to the Round of 16 directly.
After a slow start to the game, the home side came to the fore with a bunch of fantastic individual displays.
However, it was Rio Ngumoha who stole the show with two fantastic assists either side of half-time.
Robbie Fowler in awe of Liverpool attacker Rio Ngumoha
After the game, Rafa Benitez heaped praise on Ngumoha for his dazzling performance on the right flank.
And Robbie Fowler feels the Englishman effectively won the game for Liverpool as it was hardly their best performance as a collective.
“It wasn’t a statement performance from Liverpool, but it was a statement performance from [Rio Ngumoha],” said Fowler via Amazon Prime Video.
“I think we said early in the game that Liverpool were out of sorts, not playing really well; they were sloppy and giving the ball away, but there was one player you could count on in that first half, that could make something happen, and he carried on in the second half.
“He was a big big difference. When Florian Wirtz came on he was a big big player [too], but for the full 70 minutes that he was on, Rio Ngumoha was outstanding.”
Ngumoha made his breakthrough last season but is really coming into his own for club and country during the current campaign.
And if he carries on in the same vein, there’s no reason why he can’t become one of the most feared wingers in world football in the coming years.
