Rio Ngumoha enjoyed one of his best performances in a Liverpool shirt in their 4-3 UEFA Champions League win against Villarreal.
The Englishman provided two assists and was virtually unstoppable on the right flank as he tormented the opposition defenders.
Ngumoha made his breakthrough last season but has really come into his own under Andoni Iraola as he continues to adapt to the right wing role.
And after his outstanding display vs the La Liga side at Anfield, he has now equalled a record held by Lamine Yamal.
Rio Ngumoha continues to shine for Liverpool
Ngumoha is only the second teenager in the UEFA Champions League this season to provide two or more assists in a single game, which is no small feat.
And after the game, the youngster claimed he’s happy to make the record tumble but is focused on being a matchwinner for Liverpool.
“These records are amazing to break but winning is the most important,” said Ngumoha via Liverpool’s official website.
“I think whenever I get the ball and there’s the opportunity to go 1v1 or 2v1, by all means I’ll do it. I’ll just keep going and be ruthless.”
“It was a top performance from the boys. We were two goals down but the mentality was always there.
“We knew we were going to win. It’s up there with one of the best I’ve played. I enjoyed myself and the team helped me a lot.”
Liverpool need to do everything it takes to tie him down to a new deal as he is clearly one of the brightest attacking talents in Europe.
