Journalist says Gareth Southgate is still not convinced by Liverpool’s £90m starlet ahead of Euro’s

The upcoming Euro 2020 tournament is just months away after being delayed for almost a year.

England will be hoping to make up for the lost chance of their run in the 2018 World Cup after finishing fourth.

It has been more than 50 years since the country has won a major trophy – leaving this tournament an important one.

Manager Gareth Southgate recently shocked fans, when he decided to leave out Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

During the countries friendlies in March, Southgate opted against the inclusion of Trent.

His reasoning was down to his drop in form recently despite being one of Liverpool’s best performers.

However, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Southgate still doesn’t plan on taking Trent to the Euros next month…

It is an incredible piece of information especially if it is true.

Trent is one of the most valuable players in the world and Southgate would be making a huge mistake.

With plenty of options are right-back, it is understandably a difficult decision for the man to make.

However, Trent’s numbers and form should speak for itself.

The 22-year-old has 1 goal and 4 assists in his last seven Premier League games from right-back.

This late surge in form should no doubt provide an alarm for Southgate as to why Trent should be picked.

There is just a month away and things are hotting up in the race for the final 26-man squad.

Hopefully, Trent will get the respect he deserves and Southgate will pick him in his final list of players.

matchday.
