Virals: AC Milan interested in Liverpool striker Divock Origi

Liverpool striker Divock Origi is reportedly of interest to Serie A giants AC Milan as the January transfer window approaches.

The 26 year old Belgian has enjoyed an upturn in form in recent weeks and fired home the winner in the San Siro as the Reds overcame Stefano Pioli’s side 2-1.

Despite the continued exploits, Origi has been perenially linked with a move away from Merseyside and this season could yet be a final hoorah at the club.

According to a report from TuttoMarketWeb, as cited by Anfield Edition on Twitter, there is interest from two Italian outfits.

The report claims that both AC Milan and Atalanta are ‘on the trail’ of the 31-cap Belgium international.

So far this season Origi – recently hailed as a ‘world-class’ finisher by Pep Lijnders – has scored five and provided two assists in 10 fleeting appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £10.8million and out of contract in the summer of 2022 (Transfermarkt), in an ideal world, Liverpool would either extend or cash in next month.

However, the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations complicates matters as Origi will be required to cover the short-term absence of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Despite recent events, ultimately Klopp may seek an improvement in quality as a frontline understudy.

Whatever happens over the Belgian’s future, the enigmatic striker will go down in Reds’ folklore for his involvement in some of the maddest and most glorious moments in modern history.

matchday.
