Paul Joyce confirms that Liverpool will make club-record Keita bid

Liverpool are set to make a club-record £70m bid for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, according to the very reliable Paul Joyce of The Times.

Jurgen Klopp’s side qualified for the Champions League for the upcoming campaign and are looking to improve the overall quality of their squad, with Keita appearing to be second big name to come through the door.

The club announced the club-record signing of Mo Salah from Roma for £36.9m earlier this week.

Keita has a clause in his contract at Leipzig that would allow clubs to sign him for £48m next summer but Liverpool are unwilling to wait another year.

The report claims that Leipzig have said they are unwilling to sell the midfielder this summer, although a £70m bid may be too good to turn down.

The move would also make him the most expensive Bundesliga player in history, taking over from Kevin De Bruyne.
