Liverpool join race to sign Leon Goretzka

Eager to bolster their midfield options with Emre Can looking likely to leave when his contract expires next summer, Liverpool have reportedly joined a host of clubs that are looking to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.

The 22-year-old caught the eye for Germany at the Confederations Cup, scoring three goals in five games to help the Germans win the competition, and has been linked with a number of top European clubs.

With his contract expiring next summer also, Schalke must consider cashing in on him in January or risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

Emre Can is believed to be set to join Juventus when his Liverpool cotract expires next summer and despite Naby Keita joining for a club-record fee from Red Bull Leipzig, Jurgen Klopp would still like to add to his midfield ranks.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Juventus are all also reportedly interested in signing the midfielder, and the belief is from his camp that he’s particularly excited by offers coming in from Bayern and Barcelona.
