Grujic tipped for Liverpool future
Dejan Lovren has backed Marko Grujic for a future at Anfield.
The midfielder has been on loan at Cardiff City in the Championship since January.
As reported by Wales Online, the defender opined in the Liverpool programme as to the direction of the Serbian’s career, the experienced centre-half feels hopeful for his teammate’s Liverpool career.
Lovren said:
I’m really glad for Marko that it is going well at Cardiff and hopefully they will be in the Premier League next season.
He hadn’t been playing here and is still young so I think it was the right decision for him to go to Cardiff to get some minutes on the pitch.
Appearing in 12 games for the Bluebirds, the 22-year-old has only once tasted defeat for his loan club, as they launch an assault on Premier League promotion.
After transferring from Red Star Belgrade in the summer of 2016, the lofty two-way man has found minutes at a premium under Jürgen Klopp, and Lovren believes the transition from the Serbian league to the Premier League was never going to be easy:
Going from the Serbian league to Premier League was a big step for him so I think the first year-and-a-half was about adaptation.
I saw his goal against Barnsley and I’m really happy for him that he is doing well there.
