Chelsea move ahead of Liverpool in Pulisic race
Chelsea appear to have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The Reds are known to hold a long-standing interest in signing Pulisic, as alluded to in the Mail’s recent report, but it seems they could miss out on the winger’s signature with Chelsea closing in.
It is claimed that Dortmund previously valued their promising youngster at a transfer fee of £70 million but this could have changed, with Pulisic reluctant to pen a new contract with the club.
The USA international’s current deal with Lucien Favre’s side runs down in the summer of 2020, leaving Dortmund with a dilemma over his contractual situation.
Chelsea are understood to be keen on quickly wrapping up a deal for the 20-year-old ahead of the January transfer window amid allegations of wrongdoing in their recruitment of under-age players in recent years.
Jurgen Klopp is understood to be an admirer of Pulisic but with Chelsea edging ever closer to a deal, it seems Liverpool will need to move quickly if they are to land the American.
