Former Liverpool star John Arne Riise has, via his social media account, confirmed that he was involved in a car accident on Tuesday evening.

Riise revealed that he was driving in his car with his daughter back in Norway when the accident happened and that they were both taken to hospital.

The pair spent the night in hospital but thankfully, they were both discharged this morning after checks revealed that they didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

Riise also thanked those who’d reached out to his family with well-wishes after hearing news of the accident.

Riise spent seven years with Liverpool between 2001 and 2008, winning the League Cup, FA Cup, Community Shield, Super Cup and of course, the Champions League.

He joined the Reds from Monaco for around £4m and proved to be an excellent signing as he made 348 appearances, scoring 30 goals in the process before he left to join Roma.
