A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting to James Milner’s brutal honesty on social media, following the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Brighton.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were held at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon, on a day when they were never at their best.
As the game drifted into stoppage time, it looked as though Diogo Jota’s goal had earned Liverpool a priceless win, only for Pascal Gross to equalise from the penalty spot.
The decision to award Brighton a spot-kick did not go down well with many, with Andy Robertson not initially adjudged to have fouled Danny Welbeck.
VAR once again went against Liverpool, however, as referee Stuart Attwell eventually reversed his decision.
After the game, Milner, who limped off with a hamstring injury in the second half, spoke honestly about the current situation in football, with regards to VAR.
It’s “clear and obvious” we need a serious discussion about VAR. Sure I’m not alone in feeling like they are falling out of love with the game in its current state. pic.twitter.com/5FGgLtqbHs

Thanks James, it’s exactly how we all feel. We’ve lost the joy and spontaneity of the game to millimeters and freeze frames taken out of context.
