The duo have been two of Liverpool’s most influential performers of the Klopp, excelling at the back for the Reds.

Unfortunately, Klopp is having to make do without both at the moment, with Van Dijk possibly out for the whole season with cruciate ligament damage, and Alexander-Arnold missing with a far less serious calf issue.

Liverpool badly needed some positive news in the injury department, having so many key man missing currently.

While Van Dijk’s absence is a long-term one, it is good to hear that he is progressing in his recovery, considering the severity of his injury.

Meanwhile, it sounds as though Trent Alexander-Arnold could return in the not-too-distant future, although possibly not in time for the weekend visit of Wolves.

Klopp also stated that Naby Keita could return soon, which is another good piece of news, with Liverpool so threadbare in midfield.
