Liverpool welcome Ajax to Anfield tonight in the Champions League looking to clinch qualification from Group D.

Ravaged by injury, the Reds failed to get the job done last week against Atalanta, but with two games remaining – starting with the visit of the Eredivisie outfit – qualification should be a formality.

Having won their opening three games in the group, including an impressive 1-0 victory in Amsterdam on matchday one – Jurgen Klopp‘s side have afforded themselves some leeway in their attempt to reach the knockout stages.

Despite the rich European histories of both Liverpool and Ajax, this will be only the fourth competitive meeting between two clubs who have amassed a wealth of trophies.

As well as having a lasting affinity with players originating from the Netherlands, including Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum among the current crop, Liverpool have plenty of history against Dutch clubs in European competition.
