Ben Woodburn has returned to Liverpool from his loan spell at Blackpool after a quickfire spell at the club, This Is Anfield report.

The Welshman only joined the League One outfit back in October, with first team opportunities nowhere to be seen at Anfield.

Woodburn made just three league starts for Blackpool, however, and former Liverpool Under-23s manager Neil Critchley, now in charge at Bloomfield Road, has decided not to retain his services.

It feels like a long time ago now that Woodburn became the youngest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history, having netted against Leeds United in 2016.

The forward has really struggled to kick on since, with injuries affecting his progress and Jurgen Klopp sending him out on loan to Sheffield United, Oxford United and now Blackpool.

Sadly, it is almost impossible to see a future for Woodburn at Liverpool, considering the quality in the team and the number of top players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Staying at Blackpool until the end of the campaign could have been more beneficial to him, but a permanent move elsewhere in the summer looks a good outcome instead.
