Emil Forsberg out of RB Leipzig’s Champions League clash with Liverpool

RB Leipzig will be without Emil Forsberg for their crucial Champions League clash with Liverpool.

The Bundesliga side ‘host’ the Reds in Budapest on Tuesday – it is being played at a neutral ground because of the virus currently affecting the world – in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Julian Nagelsmann will have to make do without Forsberg, however, with Bild [via Sport Witness] reporting that the Swede is still out with a knee injury suffered last month.

The report states that Forsberg’s absence ‘really hurts RB’, acting as a boost for Liverpool, who have lost their last three matches.

Forsberg is an undisputed key man for Leipzig, so there is no denying that it enhances the Reds’ hopes of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.

The 29-year-old brings creativity and end product to Nagelsmann’s team, scoring four goals and registering three assists in the Bundesliga this season.

With Liverpool potentially having to play Jordan Henderson at centre-back again – Fabinho looks set to be ruled out – the weaker Leipzig’s attack is the better.
