Callum Hudson-Odoi an injury doubt for Chelsea’s clash with Liverpool

Callum Hudson-Odoi is an injury doubt for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Liverpool this week.

Liverpool have had to deal with a host of injury problems this season, but Chelsea could also have a fitness concern ahead of the match.

Hudson-Odoi was substituted at half-time in the Blues’ 0-0 draw at home to Manchester United on Sunday, with Tuchel telling reporters that the winger is a ‘little bit injured’.

The Englishman hasn’t been ruled out of the match, but considering it arrives so quickly, he is considered a doubt.

Hudson-Odoi has been a regular since Tuchel arrived, featuring in seven games during February, so he could be a big miss for Chelsea.

The west Londoners do have a huge amount of depth in attacking areas, however, with Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner all on the bench against United.

It could be that Pulisic is considered the most natural replacement for Hudson-Odoi, possessing his natural width and pace, with the American excelling at Anfield last season, albeit in a 5-3 defeat.

It is vital that Liverpool back-up Sunday’s 2-0 victory away to Sheffield United, with a fifth loss in a row at Anfield unthinkable.

matchday.
