Emile Heskey believes Florian Neuhaus could provide missing dimension

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey claims Borussia Monchengladbach sensation Florian Neuhaus could add a whole new dimension to Liverpool’s midfield.

This comes as the 24-year-old German was linked once again with a move to Anfield by chief BILD reporter Christian Falk last week.

Jurgen Klopp could look to bolster his creative midfield options this summer, after his sides failure to break down numerous teams this season.

Heskey for one would endorse such a move and told HITC that the 5-cap German international would be the ideal fit.

I think they’ve missed that [sort of player] since (Philippe) Coutinho. Someone who can get in those pockets, travel with the ball and start committing defenders to come out of those spaces which they can exploit. We don’t really have that at this moment in time. I thought Curtis Jones could be one of those but when you’re in and out of the team like he is, it’s difficult – especially when you’re a young lad as well!

The 43-year-old went on to say Neuhaus’ creativity would ‘suit’ Liverpool and add a new dimension to their current guise.

This season has seen Mochengladbach struggle, albeit the cultured midfielder described as having ‘everything’ by manager Marco Rose, has contributed seven goals and eight assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Signing a creative-minded midfielder should be high on a list of priorities this summer for Klopp.

Although the German manager shied away from a Coutinho replacement at the outset, the workmanlike based midfield has seen Liverpool come unstuck this season and despite Thiago’s ability to dictate play, the Reds need a regular assist contributor from central areas.

Previously the marauding full-backs had been the architects of the opposing teams’ downfall, however, as sides learn to nullify them, the lack of attacking threat from midfield has been glaringly obvious.
