Liverpool endured a summer of change during the summer transfer window.
Arne Slot was replaced at the helm by Andoni Iraola, while the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah left the club on free transfers.
Four new signings were made in Jeremy Jacquet, Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo and a handful of others are expected to follow in the upcoming transfer window.
However, the summer of 2027 could be another important one for Liverpool as two key players will reach the end of their current deals: Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
Liverpool not in talks to renew Alisson Becker’s deal
Alisson is undoubtedly Liverpool’s greatest goalkeeper of the modern era and has been an incredible asset for the club since joining from Roma.
However, his current deal expires next summer and Liverpool already have Giorgi Mamardashvili at the club, while a deal to sign Lucca Brughmans from Genk has also been agreed.
Alisson is still going strong, but Romano has confirmed that there are no talks to extend his deal currently.
“There are currently no active negotiations between Liverpool and Alisson over a new contract,” said Romano on his YouTube channel.
To be brutally honest, Alisson is still up there with the best in the business and is a better option than Mamardashvili, while Brughmans is too young to take over the reigns.
Perhaps Liverpool could give him another extension and re-evaluate the situation in a year, as that would allow them more time to rejig their options in front of goal.
