Virals: Journalist says Harvey Elliott is ‘on track’ for a first-team return

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is believed to be ‘on track’ for a return to first-team action.

The 18-year-old has been absent for three months following a horrific ankle dislocation suffered against Leeds United in September.

Despite initial fears that the Englishman’s entire 2021/22 campaign could be under threat, Elliott has since been defying the odds towards making a prompt comeback.

Football journalist David Lynch has reported for the Irish Mirror, as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter, that the attacking midfielder is in line to make a return to the fold in January.

The report states that the starlet’s ‘commitment to a gruelling programme’ has put the 11-times capped England youth international in line for a return ahead of schedule.

Prior to the setback, Elliott had made three consecutive Premier League starts for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

This would certainly offer a timely boost to Klopp’s squad.

Just as the Reds’ reel from the loss of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Elliott’s return to fitness would be a much-needed comfort.

Supremely talented, the creative ace had begun to settle into the side before the cruel setback and will no doubt be relishing getting back into the swing of matters in the new year.
