Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the USA is well underway as they jet out to Chicago from John Lennon Airport earlier today.
Games against Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds United are on the horizon for Andoni Iraola and co, after which they will return to Merseyside in the first week of August to step up their preparations for the 2026-27 Premier League season.
A handful of senior players are injured, while some others featured at the business end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will therefore join the squad later.
And now, it has been confirmed that Jayden Danns will not be part of the travelling party to the USA after a fresh injury blow.
Jayden Danns injury blow for Liverpool
Since bursting onto the scene under Jurgen Klopp, the young striker has struggled massively with injuries.
Earlier this month, Iraola confirmed that Danns is currently injured, as is the case with Giovanni Leoni, Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Stefan Bajcetic.
And now, Liverpool have named their initial 31-man squad for the trip to Chicago and Danns’ name doesn’t feature on the list, which is a hammer blow for the youngster.
Other injured players are part of the squad, though, so this is a bit of a strange one at this point in time.
Initial Liverpool squad for USA tour: Gomez, Endo, Jacquet, Kerkez, Szoboszlai, Bradley, Chiesa, Leoni, Jones, Elliott, Tsimikas, Ekitike, Mamardashvili, Woodman, Frimpong, Abe, Nyoni, Bajcetic, Chambers, Ramsay, Scanlon, McConnell, Jaros, Koumas, Morrison, Ngumoha, W. Wright, Hall, Sonni-Lambie, Ndukwe, Davies.
Further senior players will join the group later in the tour after their World Cup commitments.
Danns’ return date remains unclear, but it is worth noting that this is a pre-existing problem as opposed to being a fresh injury blow.
