“Plenty to be proud of” Liverpool fans react to losing to Aston Villa

Liverpool have exited out of the Carabao Cup after a 5-0 away lossto Aston Villa.

The team fielded by Liverpool was the youngest in the club’s history and they played with desire and confidence an no sense of fear.

In the first half, Liverpool looked the most likely team to score, however, they could not find the net.

Then, Aston Villa opened the scoring with after a crossed free-kick went straight in and soon it was 2-0 after a slice of bad luck resulted in a Liverpool own goal. The goals then started flowing with Hourihane and Kodija scoring before half-time.

In the second half, Villa saw the game outcomfortably. Wesley scored a late goal in the 92nd minute to make it 5-0 and confirm Aston Villa’s place in the semi final of the Carabao Cup.

READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

I just want to say, that I’m proud of every single player who played tonight. The way the youngsters handled themselves so professionally is a testiment to them.

This was the youngest team in Liverpool history, therefore it was bound to have flaws anda  lack of experience. However, the most important thing was that the youth and academy players expressed themselves and had fun, and that is exactly what they did!

In my opinion, Ki Jana Hoever and Harvey Elliot were exceptional, and hopefully they will reach the top level.
