Liverpool are in a real standoff with Philippe Coutinho at the moment.
While the club, especially owners FSG, are determined to keep hold of him, Coutinho himself is prepared to ‘sit in the stands’ until he gets his way and leaves the club for Barcelona.
After a €120m (£109m) bid from Barcelona was unexpectedly rejected by Liverpool, the La Liga side are ready to test the Reds’ resolve once again by submitting a bid of €130m (£118.7m) for Coutinho.

Barcelona were hoping to unveil Coutinho alongside his international teammate Paulinho who signed for the Catalan club recently, with both players being clients of agent Giuliano Bertolucci.
Coutinho wanted a transfer to be done amicably, but felt the need to take actions into his own hands when he submitted a transfer request just days before the start of the new Premier League season.
As it stands, Liverpool’s stance has not changed: Coutinho is not for sale. But, if reports of him being ready to sit out games until he leaves, perhaps Liverpool’s leverage isn’t quite what they thought.
