Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne is losing his race against the clock to be fit for the club’s opener against Watford in under two weeks’ time.
According to a report from the Telegraph today, the England international is unlikely to be fit in time for the Reds’ first game of the 2017/18 Premier League season as he continues to nurse an injury.
In recent times, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been the preferred option on the right hand side of defence, and has impressed with some mature displays.

However, Clyne is undoubtedly a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s plans and respective hamstring and back problems are keeping him ruled out.
Although the prospect of not having Clyne available is a blow, the German tactician does have a plethora of options available to him on the right.
Not only is Alexander-Arnold a more than capable deputy for Clyne, but Jon Flanagan and Joe Gomez are two players also able to play at right-back if Klopp opts to utilise them.
