Daniel Sturridge hints at Liverpool stay

Daniel Sturridge has hinted his immediate future may well be with Liverpool after insisting he has ‘no worries’ about his situation at the club.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Sturridge claims to have a good relationship with manager Jurgen Klopp, despite the England international starting just six times this season.

“The manager has shown faith in me and we have a good relationship as well,” the English striker explained.

“The fans have been different class. I don’t have any worries about next season.

“I am looking forward to this last game. We need the three points of course and then we’ll be in the Champions League.”

The striker was handed a rare start on Sunday against West Ham and repaid the faith shown by his manager by scoring the opening goal at the London Stadium.

Sturridge has been linked with a summer move away from Liverpool, with West Ham reportedly interested in signing the player.

Buying an out-and-out striker is likely to be one of Klopp’s biggest priorities this summer, with Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino providing a temporary solution throughout this season.

The win on Sunday puts Champions League qualification back in Liverpool’s hands and the extra fixtures could provide more of a chance for Sturridge to impress his manager next season.
