Fekir speaks out about Liverpool interest

Liverpool have been loosely linked with a move for Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir in recent times.

The Frenchman has been in fine form for his side this season and is catching the eye with some impressive performances. Several clubs across Europe, including Liverpool, have been touted with a big-money move for the attacker.

Reports indicated that Fekir was one of many players who Liverpool considered as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho in January, with Monaco’s Thomas Lemar being another.

However, speaking to Onze Mondial, the 24-year-old admitted that he had heard about the reports linking him with a move to Anfield, but was also quick to express that there was never any concrete possibility of a January transfer.

Yeah, I heard. I heard, but there was never anything concrete.

Fekir was coy, though, when discussing his long-term future at Lyon and made no promises that he’d be staying in Ligue 1 in the following seasons.

We’ll see what the future holds. I’m at Lyon for now. I’m happy here. In football, you never know what can happen. It depends what the ball wants. You need to be prepared for anything.

Liverpool remain without a replacement for Coutinho and could solidify their interest in Fekir when the summer transfer window comes along, with Jurgen Klopp touted as an admirer of his abilities.
