“Ghost Goal” – Carragher aims hilarious dig at Chelsea on social media

Jamie Carragher has made a hilarious joke at Chelsea’s expense, making a brilliant reference to Liverpool’s Champions League win over the Blues 15 years ago.

The Reds reached the final of the competition at the expense of Jose Mourinho’s side back in 2005, following a gripping two-legged semi-final.

The tie was decided by Luis Garcia’s controversial goal at Anfield, with Chelsea still aggrieved that the ball was adjudged to have crossed the line.

On Saturday, the Blues’ official Twitter account asked supporters to describe their favourite memory in the club’s history in just two words.

Carragher was quick to respond to the tweet, simply saying: “Ghost Goal”:

It is a great response from Carragher, who will no doubt be aware that the result still stings those of a Chelsea persuasion.

Garcia’s goal is one of the most dramatic in Anfield’s history, on a night when Liverpool’s world-famous ground was electrifying.

The incredible 4-0 over Barcelona last year may have topped it, especially given the nature of the victory, but Rafa Benitez’s men’s triumph will never be forgotten.

Carragher was a huge player that evening, ensuring Liverpool kept an all-important clean sheet, and he is still haunting Chelsea fans to this day.
