Joe Gomez was the unfortunate victim of a hilarious incident in Liverpool’s training session on Thursday – one with a hint of The Simpsons‘ Hans Moleman about it.
The Reds are preparing for their crucial Premier League clash with Manchester City on Sunday looking to stay at the top of the table. Victory at the Etihad would open up an eight-point lead over Pep Guardiola’s men, albeit that they’d have a game in hand.
Liverpool’s form hasn’t been too eye-catching for much of the season, but Tuesday’s 5-0 win over Atalanta was a masterful performance and bodes well ahead of the weekend,.
While focus was typically intense ahead of the match, there was a more lighthearted moment in training – for Gomez’s teammates, at least.
As shown on the latest episode of Inside Training, the 23-year-old was the victim of getting hit in a certain part of the anatomy with the ball, leading to him crumpling into a heap on the floor.
As is the norm when such an incident happens at any level, there is no sympathy whatsoever for Gomez, with some of his colleagues in hysterics at what has just happened, including Trent Alexander-Arnold.
It is not a moment any footballer wants to experience – unfortunately for Gomez, it has made its way onto camera for the rest of time.
