Liverpool will fail with any approach for West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini, according to the London Evening Standard.
The Reds had reportedly earmarked attacking midfielder as a direct replacement for Philippe Coutinho, should the Brazilian leave for Barcelona this summer.
Coutinho is being linked with a huge £80 million move to Barcelona with Neymar looking more and more likely to complete a mouth-watering £195 million move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool are determined to keep hold of Coutinho this summer and Jurgen Klopp has been keen to play down reports of a move away for the Brazilian.
Various other reports have suggested that Liverpool have been monitoring Lanzini for some time and are huge admirers of the player.
The Argentinian impressed during the second half of last season, stepping up to the plate following the departure of Dimitri Payet.
The Hammers believe selling the player now would portray the wrong message having strengthened the squad over the summer.
