Ings vows to improve

Liverpool’s new boy Danny Ings has described the joy he felt after securing a move to the Reds.

Ings, who is currently on England Under-21s duty, agreed to join Liverpool after his contract with Burnley expires on July 1.

He told Sky Sports: “Words can’t describe the move that I’ve got for myself.”

Ings went on to speak about how he made his way up from the lower leagues to the Premier League. He made his debut for AFC Bournemouth in 2009, when they were in League Two.

He then made a move to Burnley in 2011 and played in a significant number of matches for them – contributing heavily to their promotion to the top tier.

He has also assured fans that he will continue to improve and not get complacent. Speaking about the progress he’s made so far, Ings said:

“But, at the same time, I’ve worked my way up from the bottom so it’s even more special for me.

“It’s a challenge I’m looking forward to, I’d never get complacent with anything like that.

“Now I’ve got that move, I’ll work even harder to try and get into that team and be the best professional I can be.”

The Englishman scored 11 goals for Burnley last season but could not stop the team from getting relegated. He came on as a half-time substitute for England Under-21s in yesterday’s European Championship win against Sweden.
