Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Liverpool can still challenge for the Premier League title this season, the Independent reports.
The Reds have endured something of a stuttering start to the campaign, with them currently sitting in 7th place following a rocky opening seven games to the season. They have also picked up two draws from their first two Champions League group stage games, and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle against Leicester.
I really think it looks like we are not far away from a real challenger. If we do what we are good at then we can score more goals and we will win more games and we don’t have to think about other teams and we will close the gap.
Despite this though, Klopp believes that the Reds are still in with a chance of bridging the gap at the top, which is currently a total of seven points.

No, I cannot talk about our football and the gap between us and other teams. We have our hard moment. Other teams will have their hard moment.
We need to work on our thing. It is all about our situation, we are not thinking about where the others are.
Liverpool could not clinch an important win on Sunday afternoon against Newcastle. Goals from Philippe Coutinho and Joselu respectively meant that the honours were even at St James’ Park, as Liverpool’s defensive frailties cost them once again.
Klopp will hope that the Reds can iron out their issues in a swift fashion and mount a genuine title push in the remainder of the campaign.
