Liverpool look set to miss out on Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij, with the Dutchman in negotiations with the club over a new deal.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the Netherlands international for some time now, as Jurgen Klopp aims to remedy his side’s defensive problems.
However, it looks as though De Vrij won’t be one who comes in, with openly expressing his happiness with Simone Inzaghi’s side.
The Lazio man has been in good form this season, and has been a consistently solid performer for his side since joining.

Liverpool made efforts to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the summer but failed to secure a move despite clear interest. De Vrij was cited as the main alternative.
As quoted by FourFourTwo, the powerful defender said:
Besides playing well as a team there are also a lot of friendships among us, this is a really nice thing. I’m very happy to be here. We are talking to the club right now and I hope to find an agreement.
You never know what will happen. My intention is to grow and improve and make the best decision for my career.
De Vrij has helped his Lazio side up to 3rd in the Serie A, and looks set to pen a new deal with the club.
