Ahead of the Champions League clash between Bayern Munich and Liverpool, Robert Lewandowski has hailed the impact Jurgen Klopp has had on his career.
The striker claims that Klopp instilled belief in him and has hailed him as an amazing person and coach.
Lewandowski played under Klopp for four years at Dortmund and became known as one of the best strikers in the world, before earning his move to Bayern.
As quoted by TeamTalk, Lewandowski said this:
He was a coach who also had a very big influence on my career and I can only be thankful to him.
What we did together at Dortmund and the progress we made has brought us to where we are.
I’m delighted I was able to get to know such a coach and such a person as Jurgen because he’s amazing, both as a coach and a person. I learned so much from him and that means a lot.
I think what I learned from him is the belief I could play at the highest level. He had this influence and it helped me take the next step.
He made me realise that I had more potential than even I had imagined. He could see something in me that I couldn’t see.
During his time under Klopp, Lewandowski scored 103 goals in 187 games for Dortmund.
He has since gone on to score 175 goals in 222 games for Bayern Munich in all competitions, with a sensational return of 118 goals in 145 Bundesliga games.
