Liverpool have an attitude problem says Shearer

Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat to Swansea proves the club have an attitude problem towards smaller teams, according to Alan Shearer.

The former Newcastle United striker, who was speaking on Match of the Day, as reported by the Independent slammed the performance that saw the Reds lose in an eventful second half.

Shearer said:

They’ve not been beaten by any of their title rivals but they have been beaten by Bournemouth, Swansea, Burnley and drawn with Sunderland which tells you they have a problem with attitude and application.

Liverpool’s form this season has seen them record impressive results against their fellow title rivals but drop points against the smaller teams in the league.

The former Newcastle striker continued:

You cannot just turn up in any game and expect to win. They were slow, they were sluggish, poor passing, there was no energy about their game. They made it easier than it should have been for the two centre-halves.

Fernando Llorente’s two quick-fire goals put Swansea 2-0 up in the second half, before two well executed Roberto Firmino goals made the game level.

After getting the game all square, Liverpool looked set to push on take all three points, but the Swans dug deep and Gylfi Sigurdsson scored the winner for the Welsh outfit.

The win lifted Swansea out of the relegation and above Crystal Palace, in what was a monumental win for them.
