Liverpool reportedly ‘ahead in the queue’ in chase for £49.5m French wonderkid midfielder

This summer has already seen Liverpool heavily featured with a number of players across Europe.

Following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum, a hole has been left in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad.

The Dutchman joined French giants PSG at the start of July, following an extremely successful five years with the Reds.

This has now led to plenty of players being reported as potential replacements for the midfielder.

So far, the club has seen concrete links with Renato Sanches, Florian Neuhaus, and Saúl Ñíguez.

However, the latest player linked with a move provides a massively exciting prospect for the club…

According to The Express, the Reds are ahead in the queue over Real Madrid for French youngster Eduardo Camavinga…

The 18-year-old has risen to stardom with Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais over the last few years.

Camavinga looks a fantastic player at such a young age and has plenty in his locker to adapt in Klopp’s midfield.

With the fantastic ball-carrying ability and ability in tackling, Camavinga suit the previous role of Wijnaldum’s.

According to FBRef, the Frenchman is in the upper percentiles (87+) with his tackling, progressive carries, pass completion, and pressures.

With a current market value of £49.5million, the teenager will be a very expensive signing this summer.

The youngster is subject to plenty of interest from clubs across Europe, including the aforementioned Real Madrid.

One of the main competitors for Camavinga’s signature is Manchester United, who have been heavily linked.

Although, in a report from The Guardian by Fabrizio Romano, the French club could let the midfielder go for as little as €30m.

If this is true, there is no reason as to why Liverpool can make a move ahead of their competitors.
