- Liverpool midfielder Nyoni gets U19 call-up
- Ngumoha cameos impress Will Antwi
- Reds duo have three games in six days
England U19 have their UEFA Euro 2026 Elite Round in Portugal this month and manager Will Antwi has named his squad. Liverpool duo Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha have been called up and are expected to play a key role.
Arne Slot’s side will see their senior English players get some rest ahead of the business end of the run-in. The Reds do not have a single player in the England first team this month, but the future remains bright, with two players selected for the U19 squad.
Ngumoha has been a bright spark for Liverpool this season, and it is no surprise to see him make the U19 squad. The winger who arrived from Chelsea is slowly earning first-team starts under Slot, as Cody Gakpo has not impressed this season.
The teenager still has just one goal under his belt this season, despite playing nearly 400 minutes across his 20 appearances for the club in all competitions. The winner at Newcastle United early in the season remains his only goal contribution.
Nyoni has played just 217 minutes for the Reds’ first team, as he has spent most of the time on the bench. He has been training regularly with the seniors, and it has limited his time with the youth side this season.
Nyoni has played just six matches in Premier League 2, but has still managed to get a goal and three assists to his name this season. Antwi has been impressed with the Englishman’s talents and has called him up for the games.
