Crysencio Summerville: Trainer Claims Liverpool Transfer Interest

News of a possible Crysencio Summerville Liverpool transfer has emerged this week, after the winger’s personal trainer claimed several major European clubs, including Liverpool, held interest in him before he completed a £60m move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

Ivandro Monteiro, who describes himself as Summerville’s “second father”, made the claim in an interview with ESPN NL. He said the Dutch international drew attention from clubs across the continent while still at West Ham United, though no formal proposal from Liverpool or any other named club has ever been confirmed.

No doubt about a switch to Saudi Pro League

Monteiro told ESPN NL that Summerville came to him once contact from Europe’s biggest clubs started landing.

“You’re not going to believe this,” Summerville reportedly told his trainer, who responded with simple advice: “Just wait. See what happens. You never know.”

Monteiro has worked closely with Summerville throughout his career, and the pair stayed close even as the winger’s next move took him away from Europe entirely. When Al-Hilal’s offer arrived, Summerville again turned to his trainer.

“Listen to this, this is crazy,” he said. Monteiro told him there was only one answer. “Boy, pack your bags and go. Don’t think about it,” he said.

Monteiro then explained, in comments to ESPN NL, why he pushed Summerville towards the Saudi Pro League rather than a switch to one of Europe’s traditional powers.

“You are still young and you can always go back. The competition is tough and people underestimate the level there. But for him, it was a new challenge and a chance to develop further. For the last three or four months, he has been playing at a high level in almost every match. He is very consistent. I have seen him grow as a footballer, but also as a person. He has always had that discipline. He always wants to improve. I think he could even become the best striker in Europe.”

“If you look at players his age, I see few guys who are much better. A club doesn’t automatically make you better. Many people think that a good club makes a player better, but you mainly have to invest in yourself. If you keep training in your spare time and want to improve yourself, a trainer will see that too. Crysencio is such a person. He always wants to be the best and doesn’t just sit back.”

Andoni Iraola squad and Liverpool wide options

Interest in a winger of Summerville’s profile reflects what many Premier League sides look for from the position: a player who can beat a man and stretch defences. Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola demands exactly that profile from his own wingers, and it is the same type of player admirers see in Summerville.

Liverpool’s attacking group has still produced results without any new arrival in that position. The away win sealed by an Isak strike came against Iraola’s former side, Bournemouth. A result that showed Liverpool already have enough firepower in wide and central areas alike.

Liverpool Transfer Strategy and Al-Hilal Saudi Pro League Move

Summerville’s move to Al-Hilal, worth up to £60m, shows the financial scale now available to Saudi Pro League clubs chasing Europe’s most sought-after young players. Liverpool’s own summer business followed a different path, built around targets already identified inside their recruitment plans rather than late competition for a player heading to the Gulf.

Monteiro’s account of a Crysencio Summerville Liverpool transfer interest remains just that: a claim from the player’s trainer, reported through an interview with ESPN NL.

For now, Summerville’s switch to Al-Hilal stands as another example of the Saudi Pro League’s pull on players still inside their peak years in Europe, whatever interest might once have existed elsewhere.
