Liverpool fans react to yet another Gini Wijnaldum goal for Netherlands

Some Liverpool supporters have been lauding the brilliance of Gini Wijnaldum following yet more international heroics for the Netherlands.

The 30-year-old has been a wonderful signing for the Reds ever since joining from Newcastle United in 2016. Having thrived as an attack-minded player at St James’ Park, it was assumed that he was heading to Liverpool to take up a similar role.

Instead, Jurgen Klopp has used him as one of the more understated members of the team, doing the hard graft in central midfield and allowing others to shine.

This selflessness has played a huge role in Liverpool’s success in recent years, with Wijnaldum a key cog in the machine. The Dutchman is more than capable of providing real attacking quality, however, as he showed by scoring twice against Barcelona in 2019.

When it comes to playing for his country, Wijnaldum is given far more freedom and he has been in sensational goalscoring form of late.

On Wednesday he bagged a late winner in the Netherlands’ 2-1 win away to Poland, meaning he now has 13 goals in his last 20 international appearances.

These Liverpool fans took to Twitter to heap praise on the Liverpool star as he continues to showcase his versatility as a player.
