According to a shock report from The Mirror, Liverpool are amongst a host of Premier League clubs looking to make a move for Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend, with the likes of Manchester City and Southampton also circling.
The 24-year-old has a release clause of £10.5million this summer which could be activated by potential suitors after Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship.
However, if Jurgen Klopp is to secure the services of the England international winger, he will have to act fast as there is plenty of interest surrounding the powerful wide man.
It is believed that Manchester City and Southampton are two of the clubs who have qualified for European football that are interested in Townsend, whilst Crystal Palace and West Ham are also weighing up a move for the Englishman.
If Klopp is to seek a cheaper alternative to Southampton’s Sadio Mane, who the club have been interested in, reportedly, Townsend could be a Liverpool player come the start of the season.
