Liverpool looking to keep hold of James Milner in January

Liverpool will turn down any January approaches for James Milner, despite his lack of game time, according to The Telegraph.

The report suggests that the Reds are bracing themselves for interest after a host of clubs, most notably Leicester, tried to sign the player during the summer.

After spending most of last season playing as a makeshift left-back, Milner has moved back into his more familiar role as a central midfielder this season, but as a result, has seen his game time decrease.

Milner is said to still be a key figure in Klopp’s plans, despite starting just two games in the Premier League this season.

The former Manchester City man has been assured of his place in the squad for at least the rest of the season.

Doubts may resurface over the summer when Naby Keita completes his move to Anfield from RB Leipzig, who’ll add extra competition in midfield.
