Liverpool Football Club appear to have taken a significant step forward in their bid to redevelop their academy site at Kirkby.
As confirmed on the club’s official website on Thursday evening, the Reds’ plan to develop a new and improved training complex for both the first-team and the academy has been granted permission by the Knowsley council.
The report from the official website outlines the plans to construct a new training centre, to redevelop the already existing facilities that are situated at Kirkby, and also to convert the main pitch into an indoor pitch for Liverpool’s teams at all ages.

This move will see Liverpool leave their iconic training base at Melwood as they look to push on and develop their teams at a new, state of the art facility in Kirkby.
Community playing fields situated on Simonswood Lane are also set to be redeveloped as part of the plan from Liverpool.
