Liverpool could pay over £10m for Dominic Solanke

Liverpool’s first signing of the summer was the Bosman transfer of Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke.

The 19-year-old forward made just one senior appearance for Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge and believes a move to Liverpool could help springboard his career.

Chelsea are due a compensation fee for Solanke and the fee could end up being over treble what Liverpool initially offered.

The London Evening Standard claim that the Blues are seeking a fee in excess of £10m from the Reds for Solanke’s transfer.

Liverpool offered £3m to Chelsea but that was rejected by the west London club. With the two clubs seemingly struggling to reach an agreement, the issue could go to a tribunal next month which will decide the fee.

Antonio Conte’s side were initially looking for a sum of around £8m to finalise Solanke’s move, but have since upped their demands following his impressive performances at the recent U20 World Cup.

Solanke was named player of the tournament and scored four goals as England made history by winning the competition.

The teenager has already signed a long-term contract at Anfield worth in the region of £20,000-a-week.
