Liverpool to rekindle Lemar interest in January

Liverpool will rekindle their interest in signing AS Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar in January, according to L’Equipe.

The Frenchman was a summer transfer target for the Reds late in the window as both Liverpool and Arsenal failed with bids for the player.

Lemar is said to be interested in a move to Anfield in the future and rejected a move to Arsenal on deadline day due to their lack of Champions League football.

After spending big on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool were unable to go for Lemar again this summer but plan to move for the player in January.

Liverpool see the 21-year-old as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who was linked with Barcelona throughout the summer.

The report suggests that Lemar was told he could leave the club if an acceptable offer was submitted, with the French champions accepting Arsenal’s £92 million offer on deadline day, only for the player to reject the move.
