Liverpool still want to add options to their attack this summer but one of their reported targets could be soon off the market.
According to Spanish source Marca, as quoted by Sky Sports, Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz is edging closer to completing a move to Ligue 1 side Lyon after the two clubs have opened negotiations regarding his transfer.
The Reds failed with two loan bids for the striker during the January window according to Spanish publication AS, and Diaz turned down 10 offers during the same window in order to stay put at the club.
Fellow Premier League side Tottenham, as well as Celtic and Lazio, are reportedly considering moves to sign the 23-year-old striker this summer but it appears as if Lyon are leading the race.
Diaz is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League after failing to break into the Real Madrid first-team, making 14 appearances last season, scoring on five occasions.
Real Madrid are seeking a fee in the region of €10m (£8.7m) for the Dominican Republic international, but it seems as if Liverpool and Spurs along with other interested parties are behind Lyon in the pursuit to sign him.
