Liverpool have seen their hopes of signing Jack Butland dashed as Stoke tell the Reds the player is not for sale this month.
The Express reports that Liverpool had earmarked the goalkeeper as a player that could come and take the number one spot at Anfield.
Butland has been heavily linked with moves away from Stoke in the past as Paul Lambert’s men struggle in the Premier League.
After recently taking over at the club, Lambert was quizzed about the future of the goalkeeper. There had been some suggestions he could be sold to fund further transfers.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the England international, as they prepare for the possibility of losing Thibaut Courtois.
Jurgen Klopp has been undecided on his number one at Anfield in recent weeks. Both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have featured in between the sticks in recent weeks.
It was the former who started against Manchester City in the Reds’ thrilling 4-3 victory at Anfield.
