Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita has revealed that both Arsenal and Liverpool were interested in acquiring his services during the summer.
Speaking to SportNet (h/t TEAMtalk), Keita states that the Premier League duo, along with Southampton and Manchester City, were interested in him.
He told SportNet:
Arsenal, Manchester City and Southampton were all interested in signing me and Liverpool as well, although I did not speak with their coach. I did not want to join a big Champions League club right away. It is too early for that. I want to prove myself in the Bundesliga first now.
Keita has been a key player for Leipzig so far this season as they sit in second place in the Bundesliga, just two points behind leaders Bayern Munich, scoring three goals in his last six league appearances.
TEAMtalk also reported that Crystal Palace and Bournemouth were chasing the impressive 21-year-old midfielder who can expect to be subject to even greater Premier League interest if he continues his current form.
