Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is close to leaving Anfield after Turkish side Trabzonspor held talks with the Premier League club about signing the Brazilian, according to a report on Talksport.
It is understood that the Merseyside club will sell Lucas if Trabzonspor offer a fee of around £5m. Lucas has one year remaining on his contract at Liverpool but manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to sell him this summer.
The negotiations between the two clubs about Lucas seem to be going well so far, however, there is some concern over Lucas’ wage demands which could be something that stalls the move.
The Brazilian may not be willing to take a considerable pay cut to join the Turkish side who may therefore pull out of the deal as they do not want to pay such a high wage to the player.
The 30-year-old is nearing the end of his career and is looking for a move to a club where he can get as much first team action as possible.
The Brazilian midfielder, who can also be deployed as a centre back, made 12 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the Premier League last season.
